This morning after breakfast Duke and I walked to the post office on the other side of the central plaza. It was early enough that the stalls were still being set up. We bought stamps and mailed some postcards.

Back at our hotel we ordered a taxi. One of the people from the hotel led us on a 15 minute walk through the labyrinth to where the taxi was waiting for us.

The taxi took us to the rental car office where we picked up our rental car and headed south out of Marrakesh.

We drove 40 miles and almost two hours south into the foothills of the Atlas Mountain, to a wonderful resort, Domaine de la Roseraie in the town of Ouirgane. After our welcome snack outside our rooms we went for a walk.

After our walk we sat in the bar overlooking the pool and played cards. I thought maybe as a birthday present I would let Duke win at cards. But I couldn’t do it!

We had our best dinner so far at the hotel restaurant. We are out in the country so it may be the only restaurant around. When we told the maitre d’ that it was Duke’s birthday he taught us happy birthday in Berber and Arabic.

This is the view as I finalize this blog post.
