Yesterday we drove from Tofte on the shore of Lake Superior south to Minneapolis. Along the way we stopped to check out a couple of light houses.

 

We had a picnic lunch overlooking Two Harbors Bay and watch a big ship coming in to load taconite.

 

 

 

Last night we spent at my Aunt Dorothy’s place near Minneapolis.

 

Duke and I are on a five week road trip. Today starts week three. We spent the last two nights at Bluefin Bay Resort in Tofte, Minnesota on the shore of Lake Superior. We've stayed here before and really love the setting. We went to sleep and woke up listening to the waves and the Sea Gulls.

 

Yesterday we hiked the Gitchi Gami trail a couple off miles down the lake to Temperance River State Park. We hiked up the Temperance River Gorge and down to where it enters Lake Superior. The gorge was deep, narrow and dark. Very impressive and it was a beautiful day for hiking too!

 

 

 

 

Later this morning we are headed to Minneapolis.

We just finished three days fishing at Miley’s resort on Lake of the Woods in southern Ontario. We had a wonderful time and each caught a few fish.

 

 

In addition to catching fish we saw bald eagles and Turtles.

 

 

Miley’s has cabins and one trailer for rent. We stayed in the trailer. It was very cozy.

 

 

This morning we packed up and headed south. Tonight we are on the shore of Lake Superior. We plan to pick up a pizza and enjoy the view.

 

 

Today we drove from Kenora on the north side of Lake of the Woods Ontario to Mylie’s Resort on the south side of Lake of the Woods – about 170 miles. Lake of the Woods is a very big lake.

 

Our plan is to stay here four nights. We bought our fishing licenses and would have gone out fishing this afternoon but it was too windy. So instead of eating fish we caught tonight we went out and had a very good steak dinner at a nearby resort.

 

Miley’s is where my Dad went Fishing starting in about 1961. Dad’s annual fishing trip was a very big deal. Miley’s has very nice cabins to rent. But they also have a trailer which we decided to rent. It is quite new and very comfortable. I’m looking forward to fishing, relaxing and not driving for a few days!

 

 

Yesterday was another long driving day from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan across Manitoba to outside of Kenora, Ontario. The sun came out and it was about 70 when we got to our B&B so we had a picnic dinner overlooking the lake.
