Today is our last full day in Fiji. Tomorrow morning we fly to New Zealand.

We had a great breakfast this morning in the open air dining room here at the Fiji Orchid. A little after noon we drove about ten miles closer to Nadi and hiked in the Garden of the Sleeping Giant.

This morning around 4:30 they stated pouring concrete for the house they are building two doors down from our villa in Volivoli. It was quite noisy. In spite of the early start we had a lovely last morning in our villa.

About 10:30 we left Volivoli and drove two and a half hours west to the Fiji Orchid resort where we are tonight. The resort is about half an hour from the airport. Duke chose it so we wouldn’t have too far to drive before our early flight Saturday morning.

At Fiji Orchid we have a beautiful stand alone room. After we checked in we relaxed, read and enjoyed the peaceful setting .

We had another day in this wonderful spot. Duke and I have been getting a lot of reading done.

This afternoon we walked down to the beach and around the point we are staying on. It was very windy but it was a fun walk.

For dinner we ordered a Fijian dinner from a local lady.

We didn’t do much today. This morning we had coffee on our patio.

In the afternoon we went into the nearest town, Vaileka, about 8 miles southwest of here. It took us a while, but eventually we found the ATM. We got some cash then bought a few groceries.

Today we left our villa at Kaila Na Ua Resort and drove almost 5 hours around the south and east sides of the Fiji Island of Viti Levu to a villa overlooking the ocean. It rained on and off all day so it was a good day to spend driving.

Totoka Vuvale Villa where we will be for the next three nights is a gorgeous house on bluff overlooking the Pacific.

Totoka Vuvale is a long way from any restaurants. When Duke booked the reservation the owner sent him the names of a couple people who could bring dinner in for us. Tonight we had fish curry with dhal rice, roti and salad. It was delicious.
