I am a traveler, hiker, avid reader, Sun alumnus, computer geek, Spanish and French language student, knitter and genealogist. I am retired after working for almost 30 years in the Computer Industry. I live in Reno, Nevada with my husband Duke.
Duke and I are at the start of an almost 3 week Mexican adventure. We are starting out in the Polanco area of Mexico City.
We got up at 4:00 this morning to catch a 6:00 flight. We changed planes in Salt Lake City, had an uneventful flight and landed in Mexico City about 6 hours after leaving Reno.
Parking at the airport.
In Mexico City our taxi ride to our hotel from the airport took about an hour. After checking in and getting settled we went for a walk.

We had a fabulous dinner at Agua & Sal, a nearby seafood restaurant.

I suspect I’ll sleep well tonight! It’s been a long day.
When Duke and I travel I write a blog post every day. It increases my enjoyment of travel to share our travels with friends and family. It also is enormously useful to be able to go back and look at what we did or where we stayed or ate in a particular place.
On this blog I have a list of most of our trips since 2016 with each itinerary. There is a link here and on the menu. After we get home I edit the itinerary to add links to the blog posts for each day of the trip. I just finished adding the links for our last trip.
Deleting Twitter and Moving to BlueSky
When I create a blog post WordPress can automatically create a post on another site. In the past I had the blog set up to automatically create posts on Twitter, when I create a blog post here. But I just deleted Twitter (X) and created an account on BlueSky. So far I really like Blue sky. I read about its growth and advantages here and I’m am very hopeful that Twitter (X) will eventually become irrelevant. I have set up my account so that blog posts automatically get posted to BlueSky. Here is a link to my BlueSky profile. If you are on BlueSky please let me know so I can follow you there.

Travel Plans
Duke and I are planning our next two trips. (Duke is the one who does most of the planning.) In January we are going to spend about two weeks in Mexico. We have travelled in Mexico a lot! I like Mexico. And of course it helps that Duke is fluent in Spanish and I speak and understand enough to get by. We have done several trips in Mexico over the years. On most of those trips we drove from Reno.
For our Mexico trip in January we will fly to Mexico City, spend about 10 days there and then fly to Puerto Escondido on the west coast and stay there for a week. We have been to both Mexico City and Puerto Escondido before. We were in Puerto Escondido in 2014. Here is a link to my blog posts from that trip. We were In Mexico City in 2011. Here is a link to my blog post about that. If you have any suggestions for things we should do or places we should eat In Mexico City or Puerto Escondido please let me know in the comments or by emailing me.
Boomers Without Borders Update
I started creating videos about our travels and posting them to YouTube in 2019. it has been a really fun learning experience. We named our channel Boomers Without Borders. I am busy editing and posting videos from our last trip. Here is a link to the playlist from that trip. My goal now is to get to 1000 subscribers and we are getting close! As of this morning we now have 890 subscribers and 191 videos! If you haven’t already subscribed please subscribe!!
Our trip home last Monday was uneventful. We left Amsterdam about 10am and flew to Copenhagen. After a brief layover we flew to San Francisco.

We took BART from the airport to my daughter’s house and spent the night. The next morning after walking to school with the grandkids we drove home to Reno. Now we are busy catching up with things at home, editing and publishing YouTube videos of the trip, and getting over jet lag. If you’d like to see the videos as they get published here is a link to our channel.
This morning we drove to the Moxy Hotel near the airport in Amsterdam. We checked in and left our bags, then turned in the rental car, and walked back to our hotel.

Today we explored the area around Rossum where the immigrant Vermazen family came from. We met up with Duke’s distant cousin Ben and his wife Lin and they showed us around.
