Mexico City Polanco to the Historic Center

Today after breakfast and packing up we checked out and stored our bags. Then we walked through Abraham Lincoln Park. The Lincoln statue had a wreath. I assume it was put there to celebrate his birthday.

On the other side of the park we had coffee and cinnamon rolls.

Then we went back to get our bags and took an Uber to our next hotel, Casa Sauto, overlooking the Zocalo, the Cathedral, and the historic Center. We had a relaxing afternoon with some exploring and shopping. We visited the Cathdral.

For dinner we went to Café de Tacuba a historic restaurant founded in 1912.

Mexico City Polanco day 2

Today we visited the wonderful Museo Soumaya. It is an art museum with an extensive collection of art through the ages. It was given to the city by the Mexican billionaire philanthropist and businessman Carlos Slim.

It’s about a mile walk to get from our apartment to the Soumaya. This is in Abraham Lincoln Park.
We walked by lots of street vendors and food stands
We had to wait in line for about 20 minutes to get in.
The top floor of the museum is primarily sculptures and mostly Rodins

On our way back to our Apartment we had street tacos at Turix. They were really good.

For dinner we went to a nearby restaurant called Steins

We are in Mexico City!

Duke and I are on a short one week trip to Mexico City with our Granddaughter. We flew in yesterday. We are staying in a very nice apartment called Capitalia Obelisk Polanco. When we got here we took a short break and then had a great dinner at about ten o’clock at the restaurant Agua and Sol.

Dinner at Agua and Sol.

Today is Sunday. We did a lot of exploring including the Anthropology Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and Chapultepec Castle.

Walking down Avenida de La Reforma
Everywhere we went today was very crowded. I think that’s because it is Sunday and Mexican residents get in free. This is going into Chapultepec Castle

After all our sightseeing we took an Uber back to our apartment and rested until dinner. We walked 6,5 miles today.

For dinner we ate at Rosa Negra. We ate there last time we were in Mexico City. You definitely need reservations. Every table was full tonight. So Duke made a reservation about a month ago. It was fabulous tonight too.
