Rosario to Córdoba

Today we drove 250 miles north and west across countryside that looks a lot like the Great Plains of the United States. We made one stop at a rest stop to stretch but other than that we drove straight through. It took us about 4 hours.

Córdoba is the second largest city in Argentina. When we got here we went grocery shopping then played cards.

Rosario Day 2

Today Duke had arranged a guide to show us the area around Rosario and also for us to visit a farm and the farmer. Our guide was Elizabeth Fregoni. She was an excellent guide

Next we drove across the Parana River and its flood plain to the town of Victoria where we had lunch.

This evening we had a great dinner in Rosario at a grill overlooking the river, Parrilla Don Ferro.

Buenos Aires to Rosario

This morning after breakfast we walked to the rental car office and picked up the car we will be driving for the next 5 weeks.

Then we drove north and west from Buenos Aires along the Paraná River to the town of Rosario. We had a bit of trouble finding our hotel. (We had to go around the block at least four times.) When we finally got checked in we immediately walked to the Rosario Board of Trade which is the Argentinian equivalent of the Chicago Board of Trade. We had a tour scheduled at 1:00. The tour was really interesting.

After our tour we went back to the hotel and played cards for the first time on this trip.

Buenos Aires Day 3

This morning we took an Uber to the airport to meet our travelling partners Brian and Jo Ann.

We arrived with time to spare so we had coffee while we waited.

After we met them we all took another Uber back to our hotel. Brian and Jo Ann checked in, and we all went to Petit Colón where we had breakfast yesterday so we could have some lunch.

Brian and Jo Ann had a three o’clock tour of the Buenos Aires Opera House. Duke and I have done that tour twice before so they went on their own. Duke and I went and changed some more cash.

In the evening we went to the tango show and dinner on the ground floor of our hotel. It was wonderful!

Buenos Aires Day 2

We had a wonderful day. Both of us were exhausted last night and slept like logs. When we finally woke up this morning we were rested and ready to go. We went to El Petit Colón near our hotel for breakfast. It is a famous cafe, named El Petit Colón because it is very close to the Buenos Aires Opera house, El Teatro Colón.

We ordered the egg breakfast for two and, oh my what a feast! It was fabulous and we didn’t need to eat again until dinner.

Today was a primarily a rest day, but we got a lot done. We changed more money and bought tickets for a tango show tomorrow night. We straightened out our tickets for 4 shows we want to go to when we return to Buenos Aires in 6 weeks. Duke tried to buy the tickets before we left home but because of credit card challenges we weren’t sure if we had bought the tickets or not. Now we have all 4 sets of tickets.

For dinner we took a taxi to the Palermo district and had fabulous Argentine beef at a top rated restaurant, Calder del Soho. Then we walked to a nearby bookstore/ restaurant that also has a small Jazz Venue. The place is called Borges 1975. We saw 5 bass players perform. They were so much fun to listen too and the music was great. They seemed to be having so much fun. There were probably less than 20 people in attendance and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We came out smiling and took an Uber back to our hotel.
