Ustka to Mielno

Today we made a fairly short drive west along the Baltic coast to the seaside tourist town of Mielno. We drove back roads and saw a lot of interesting farms, buildings and towns.

This church in a little village we drove through caught my eye so we stpopped to check it out. The sign by the door says it was built in the late 14th century.

In Mielno we are staying at a wonderful hotel, Baltivia Sea Resort. We are right on the beach.

For dinner we walked a couple blocks to the main street of Mielno where we had wonderful fish and chips for dinner.

    1. Pam, the temperature isn’t cold. 60 or so. wiith the wind last night it was a bit chilly. But it was still very pleasant. The sun makes a big difference.

We are seeing what seems to be all local people. Although it is hard for me to differentiate Polish from German from Swedish from. Lithuanian. It is very much a tourist town but it feeling like a tourist town like A smaller American coastal town.

We did see a man wearing a MAGA/Trump hat in the restaurant last night but he was speaking what sounded like Polish so who knows!

  1. Is that an herb butter on the flounder? I’ve never seen it prepared that way. One good thing about travel is seeing familiar food and habits turned completely in a different direction.

Like the time I thought I’d ordered a grilled ham and cheese sandwich only to receive a sort of double-sided French toast with ham and cheese inside. It was definitely a hot cheese and ham (about as much French as I knew) but not at all what I expected.

    1. yes that is herb butter on the flounder. It wasn’t exactly what I expected but it was very good.

you are right about surprising foods. We see them especially on the breakfast buffet. This morning they had what looked like deviled eggs but the filling was white and tasted kind of like sour cream. They also had big dill pickles and meat loaf. It’s a fun part of traveling!
